Lush Ocean Salt Review

The last time I was at Lush, Ocean Salt was recommended to me by one of the sales assistants as I was after a body exfoliant/scrub. Ocean Salt is actually a facial scrub that can also be used for the body.

It's a thick scrub full of 2 sizes of (pretty large) salt crystals and has lime, coconut, grapefruit and sea salt in it. It's a vodka based face scrub that's absolutely amazing. It doesn't need to be refrigerated like some of the Lush face masks.

This is what it looks like when you first open the pot. I can't put my finger on what it smells like.. but it's very "fresh".. a bit like the beach? Salt and lime?

Lush Ocean Salt

It's freaking blue! and so so pretty :) All the salt crystals sit on the top and you need to mix them in into the base before you start using it. I used a spoon (you can use a fork or knife as well.. it doesn't really matter) and gave it a few swirls to mix it all up.

After 2 uses
I first used Ocean Salt on my whole body in the shower and I didn't find it very effective. I think a loofah or one of those shower puff things with some Palmolive or Johnson & Johnson could do the same job. It's also really expensive to use as a body scrub. Ocean Salt retails for $20.95 for a 120g pot or $35.95 for a 250g pot. I picked up the larger one as it was definitely a better value.

Ocean Salt is amazing as a facial scrub! You have to make sure that you rub it on your face gently as I found the larger salt crystals to be a bit scratchy if I rubbed it in too hard. It makes my skin feel so clean and fresh. I swear my skin also looks brighter :)

This is seriously a holy grail of mine. My Dermalogica microfoliant isn't cutting it (as it doesn't feel like it's actually doing anything to my face) and I find the St Ives apricot exfoliant to be too harsh. Ocean Salt sits perfectly in the middle :) Not too harsh yet it actually feels like it's exfoliating my face.

Lush should make Ocean Salt without the chunky salt crystals in it and market it as a cleanser as I would buy tonnes of it! The pretty blue colour gets me every time :)

Repurchase? Yes! Yes! Yes!

Concealer rave!

I used to be the sort of person who would be like "what's the need for more than one of each makeup type?" So I only ever had one foundation, one concealer, one blush etc. The only exception was lip products and I had dozens upon dozens of lip glosses and balms.

In the last couple of months though, I've changed my philosophy and now I have too much of everything. This time, the only exception is concealer. I only use the one concealer because nothing could be better than it!

The concealer that's now my Holy Grail is the Make Up For Ever Full Cover Concealer.

It was US$32 from Sephora for 0.5 oz which is roughly about 14mL. You can get it in Australia for $43 at mediamakeupstore.com

It does an amazing job in covering blemishes and you only need the smallest amount each time. My main skincare concern is pimples and acne as I often get breakouts in the middle of my forehead. I have a pimple party on my forehead right now so I took the opportunity to take before and after shots for this review.

Lots of red pimples and scarring! I'm makeup free. Ignore the
messy eyebrows :)
After a light application of Make Up For Ever Full Cover Concealer.

I'm makeup free in the first photo and you can see the red pimples and scarring that's on my forehead. The second photo is after I applied the concealer. I lightly tapped a little bit on with my fingers as I find that I get a more natural finish and use less product than if I use a brush. The redness has been eliminated. In person, it looks like my forehead is flawless but the camera managed to pick up a few bumps (they're the bigger pimples - gross I know).

There are 12 shades available and I used shade 8 (Beige). In comparison, for foundations, I use MAC NC25-30 or Punjab in NARS sheer glow.
